In a recent post, I discussed one of the best core exercises everyone could do and covered the question…

What is the core?

And, how does the core function?

In review, the core is all the major muscles that move, support and stabilize your spine.[1]

The core is the entire abdominal area from the front of your body wrapping all the way around to the back.

This area helps you bend, twist, tighten your midsection, stand up straight, and stabilize the spine.

Today, I have one of the best core strengthening exercises most anyone can add to their routine.

Best Core Exercises: The Stomach Flattener

easy ab exercises

  1. Place your fingers on your stomach just below your ribs.
  2. Take a deep breath in through the nose, allow the stomach to expand.
  3. Then tighten the stomach as tight as possible at the peak of your breath.
  4. Slowly exhale through your mouth as you continue to engage your abdominals.
  5. Do not stop breathe out all the air in your lungs.

Options for the Stomach Flattener

The stomach flattener can be used even in a brief tighten-loosen action.

Use this exercise anywhere, anytime and in any position you wish.

I like to do stomach flatteners in between exercises of my workouts.

Precautions for this Easy Ab Exercise

best core exercisesIt’s not unusual to feel slightly light-headed after this exercise.

However, do not continue the stomach flattener if the symptom persists.

For newbies, try it for 1-3 times with 1-minute rest between attempts.

If you’re more experienced, use this exercise during your regular workouts in between sets.
