Running can be one of your upcoming New Year Resolutions to kick start 2017 with a bang. Exercising regularly can be tough for most people due to a number of commitments such as work, school, and kids. Therefore, choosing the right kind of exercise can be key to you maintaining it as a habit. Running is one of the easiest exercises to get into because all you need is a pair of running shoes, below are 5 reasons why you should start running today.

As I mentioned earlier, running is simply one of the easiest exercises to pick up. Unlike basketball, yoga, boxing and so on that requires equipment, class slots, court spaces etc. Running is relatively simple because you can run almost anytime, anywhere. This is especially useful for working adults who have too little time during their weekdays to exercise. You can go for a quick 30 mins run before/after work and it is very effective by running only a couple of times weekly. Park runs, trail runs, treadmills, the number of places you can run are pretty much anywhere.

Running is a good way to keep yourself disciplined in life. Sometimes it is not the run that is hard; it is the discipline to even make the first step of going out for a run. For most people, they have already lost the mental battle by making excuses that they have no time or they have other plans. With this discipline instilled from running, you can find yourself improving in other aspects of life as well. Train your mind and your body will follow.

Imagine all the money you can save from going to the doctor by simply partaking in an exercise that costs so little to do.

Running helps to boost the brain’s serotonin levels (imbalance in serotonin levels can cause depression) and this can make you feel good almost instantly. Running is simple and straightforward because it is you against yourself. Use this alone time to forget all about your frustrating boss at work or any other issues that may be stressing you out. After the run, you may even find yourself in a calmer state of mind to make better-informed decisions.

You may feel sweaty and look unglam during your runs; however, just imagine how you look after washing up. You look fabulous and feel so good after every run; your skin even gets a healthy and natural glow. Running can get rid of clogged pores, leading to lesser breakouts.
