I’m going to shift gears a little bit since I’ve been knee deep in year-end work. As some of you may know, I’m an avid reader and am fortunate enough to know quite a few other self-published authors like myself. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting a kind woman from Trinidad who published her first book recently.

Her name is Katyan Roach and she wrote a book titled My Little Book Of Mantras: 30 Days To Happier, Healthier, More Loving You. How does this pertain to fitness anyway? Well, much more than you might think.

Here’s the deal, I’ve long touted that the three keys to health and wellness lie in:

  1. Activity – staying active and working out are critical to keeping your body healthy
  2. Nutrition – eating healthy and whole food is crucial to maintaining great health
  3. Mind – yes, where the mind goes, the body will follow

That’s why Katyan’s message resonated so well with me. In my book The 3 Keys to Greater Health & Happiness (available on my book shelf here), I shared how affirmations are more than just chanting silly feel good phrases and Stuart Smalley skits (see Saturday Night Live).

Don’t be deceived by the brevity of this little book of mantras. Wayne and Katyan packed value on every page about how mantras can help influence your life in so many ways.

What resonated with me most is their transparency and willingness to rise above the common myth that mantras solve everything. They are abundantly clear it takes so much more than a few well-placed words for a given situation. To find out what I mean, you simply have to grab a copy and find out for yourself.

For a debut book, the co-authors knocked the ball out of the park. Five well-earned stars!
